NYK Joins “Getting To Zero Coalition” For Accelerating Maritime Shipping’s Decarbonization

The ‘Getting to Zero Coalition’ has been joined by NYK. This program is a partnership among Global Maritime Forum, the Friends of Ocean action, and the World Economic Forum launched the Call to Action in Support of Decarbonisation. This program has been signed by 70 leaders form the shipping industry and the financial institutions.

The Coalition is making efforts to bring in deep sea vessels that have zero emission and are commercially viable. They are working towards getting zero emission fuels into operation by 2030 so as to fulfil IMO’s ambition to reduce the emission of GHG thereby speeding up the decarbonisation process in the shipping industry.

Staying Ahead 2022 with Digitalization and Green” is a medium term management plan that was launched in 2018. NYK said that the group aims towards integrating the environmental, social and governance initiative with the management strategies so as to solve the issues faced by the society. NYK has recognized climate change as the most important issue for the company. Thus, it is working tirelessly to make use of fuels like LNG to aid thw marine fuel decarbonisation.

NYK aims to contribute to environmental preservation for maintaining a sustainable society.
