A safety investigation has been started by the Accident Investigation Board Norway for the engine failure incident that happened with the cruise ship Viking Sky at Hustadvika on the 23rd of March 2019.
The United States and the United Kingdom are also a part of the investigation as substantially interested states.
An interim report which has a simple description and the things that were found out initially after the incident is issued by the AIBN. The actions that the company had taken are also included in the report. Moreover, the recommendations that were brought out by the Norwegian Maritime Administration immediately after the incident was also supported by the AIBN.
The investigation will continue to happen along with the analysis of the sequence of events and systematize and analyze factual information. The interim reports defines the other areas that are to investigated further.
