NYK to Build Three More LNG Carriers for Mitsubishi

Ordered from South Korea’s Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries, the units would feature a length of 297 meters and a breadth of 46.4 meters.

The first vessel from the batch, scheduled to be delivered in 2020, would transport LNG from Louisiana’s Cameron LNG project over a period of 18 years. The other two units, which would be handed over in 2021, would ship LNG from British Columbia, Canada, under a 17-year contract.

The 174,000 cbm trio will feature WinGD’s X-DF diesel engines and re-liquefaction systems that can use surplus boil-off gas effectively.

NYK informed that the long-term contracts, signed with Diamond Gas International, bring the total of new units for Mitsubishi Corporation to six. The parties previously signed long-term time-charter contracts for three LNG vessels for Mitsubishi Corporation’s Cameron LNG project.
